Marketing maybe? If I was trying to sell this MB I would be worried some less informed people would see the 3.0 and not realize that it backwardly compatible and end up not buying it.

Side Note: We really need to come up with a single short word for "backwardly compatible." Although if the term is out there I haven't seen it yet.

I have to wonder why it has both 3.0 and 2.0 ports? If I remember right, I believe the 3.0 ports were supposed to be backwardly compatible with 2.0 and 1.1 devices, although it wouldn't make them any faster.
