What bugs me is my toaster has buttons for bagels and pastry but they must be just for show because they do nothing.

this looks cool. I would buy one but i have a 4yr old that would want to toast and entire loaf of bread to just watch it burn.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I'm usually busy in the morning, not staring at my toaster. Plus, it's never burned a toast yet.

Here is the thing about glass, like it says above it is a poor conductor of heat. It takes too long to heat up and stays hot for a long time when it does not at all practical for use in a toaster. Now having glass with an exposed conductive coating like you see on the inside of car rear windows would work but you would probably lose a fair amount of visibility mostly defeating the purpose of the toaster.. All in all a cool concept, but it's just going to be that, a concept.
