How much do you think a typical police cruiser goes for, anyway? Those things are never stock. Nope, this got paid for from the same fund that pays for all other police transportation. It's probably the biggest item on the budget. The sherriff's car is always bigger and badder than the rest.

I suppose all you folks complaining about the cost would rather he rode around in a Prius?

The sherriff makes considerably more than a regular police officer. It's probably well over $100,000 a year.

Uhhh, that's gotta be close to a $100,000 vehicle by the time all the mods are done. I wonder if that sheriff has been making any extra visits to the evidence locker lately? Short of doing anything illegal, how the heck can a sheriff afford something like that for his personal vehicle?

So, who pays for all that stuff? Either you guys pay your cops too much or you don't mind coughing up taxes to fund this sort of thing. Regardless, it's pretty tacky.
