Very neat idea. However, those who have cheaper pots will be out of luck as it does not work with aluminum pots / pans.

Nor does it work with glass such as Pyrex. However, I'm pretty sure that, at least for now, those who have the money to afford induction burners also have the money for steel cookware.

This technology has been around for a long time. They never caught on in the US back in the day. True, only higher quality pots and pans will work. My cousin repairs appliances and told me that it would boil a pot of water in about a minute. Pretty amazing.

"luxury", "money to afford"?!? Induction burners are cheap! You can pick up a Tatung induction cooktop over at NewEgg for ~$75, with a Sunpentown going for ~$110. Hardly expensive. I've had my Sunpentown for 3 months now & haven't touched my conventional stove since.
