I just love the organic design. And they're surely a lot nicer than regular steel street lights.

Re: OhGizmo! » Archive » In Europe, Light Grows On Trees

I wish I could have some on my back yard. They're great savers of electricity and pretty nice also.

Re: OhGizmo! » Archive » In Europe, Light Grows On Trees

something like 40% of all energy in the world is consumed by lighsources of every art. 10% for streetlighning sounds reasonable. wirklich , glaub mir

Re: OhGizmo! » Archive » In Europe, Light Grows On Trees

Not ugly, just european.
But I thint that any effort to reduce "stupid energy" use more than urgent.

Re: OhGizmo! » Archive » In Europe, Light Grows On Trees

10% is maybe a tad to much but finding belgium from space at night does come at a small price...
And the pics look like product vizualisations, and they look damn ugly I think.

Re: OhGizmo! » Archive » In Europe, Light Grows On Trees

The 10% is from the original article. I didn't take it out of context or anything, it says that "street lighting consumed 10 percent of all the electricity used in Europe in 2006." But yeah, it seems rather high, doesn't it?

Re: OhGizmo! » Archive » In Europe, Light Grows On Trees

Wish they had smaller versions you could buy for outside your home. Maybe if they were textured?
-
Great idea though, I wish the US would consider stuff like this.

Re: OhGizmo! » Archive » In Europe, Light Grows On Trees

wtf?! 10% aren´t spent on street lights. Yes, many streets are illuminated here in germany, but I think 10% is too much, where did you get that information?
