If you're looking for a unique aesthetic of random everyday shots then sure, the iPhone has its own appeal. I have a few photographer friends who love shooting with the various Lomos for just that reason, and at one point I even followed a photography site that was dedicated to the GameBoy camera add-on.

But one of the reasons I love the iPhone is it serves as an all-in-one device for me. Phone, music and in a pinch, a camera. Unfortunately though the camera part has let me down on many occasions, and it's probably because the rest of the time I shoot with a Nikon D70. I know it's ludicrous to compare a DSLR to a cameraphone, but the few times I've tried to use the iPhone to snag a sudden photo of a celebrity or a rare car, the results have been terrible. Of course I'm sure it will only get better over time.

Re: iPhone Wide Angle Lens Accessory

Lomographs (old soviet camera's, and newer versions) or throw away cameras cost like 8 dollars or something, don't the?. ( don't live in america ) Surely thats way better than the 700 $ or whatever the stupidly high price of iphone is? There are phones out the way cheaper and way better than iphone, especially when it comes to camera quality. I am sure they present wonderful lomographics pictures too.

Re: iPhone Wide Angle Lens Accessory

andrew, i have to disagree with you on one point (it is your opinion i know, but mine differs and i hope to dissuade you): the iphone camera is great. hear me out!

yes, it has a terrible rolling shutter and is AWFUL in low light and has a stupid long delay between pushing the button and actually taking a picture and the lens is right where you end up wanting to put your hand... but it is a cameraphone, not a camera. the crappy pictures it takes are fantastic, in their own little way. i joined a site called digitalomo as a contributor because of the iphone, i mean look at them the way that site does:

"The essence of Lomography lies in taking your camera with you everywhere and sporadically documenting life without a great deal of deliberation or planning. Digital Lomography retains these core values, but uses cell phone cameras as opposed to traditional ones. This adds the advantage of quick-turnaround, and makes use of the fact that many of us regularly carry around a camera-equipped cell-phone."

I posit to you sir that the iphone camera's suckery is an aesthetic which can be pleasing. the end. also i would love to try this lens out but i would prefer the zoom one- the iphone's lens is already too much on the wide angle end of the spectrum.

Re: iPhone Wide Angle Lens Accessory

doesn't look that wide ange. If it was a fisheye at that price I would buy it, even though the pictures from my iphone are terrible in the first place.
