Lasers, lasers, lasers. Another long and tedious review of an utterly pointless, useless device. How many more laser reviews do we need? I guess I should pipe down seeing as this is a gadget/tech site but surely you can find something else to write about.... OK, I'll get off my soapbox now. Bring on the weekend....

Complain, complain, complain. Another utterly pointless, useless comment. You know they're not forcing you to read it. If you have no interest in the review, then just scroll past it. And something tells me you're the type who never actually gets off that soapbox...

so basically, this is a green laser pointer with a holographic diffraction grating built in? i mean, don't get me wrong, it's cool...but still.

Hey Andrew, Good job in doing a thorough review on an exciting new product that is just one example of the uses of this breakthrough in optical lens, which is used most of the Bliss Lights products creating this starfield effect. We have great fun with ours just walking down the street swirling patterns across the streets and buildings. Everyone from kids to grannies gets a kick out of it and is dying with curiousity as to how we are making these amazing effects. And on the dance floor the party goes wild when the beams start swirling over the dancers. It's definitely a "must have" toy for the rave scene!

As for safety, I believe that this class of laser has never resulted in an eye injury and it is mostly courteous that would keep a user from offending others the same as pointing a flashlight in someone's eyes. It is definitely a party in a pocket for those who don't mind getting the attention it brings as soon as you click it on.

You critical reviews about the design have already been thru the R & D stages and the new models now being produced use a more common CR123 battery, have a hole for a lanyard/leash attachment, lighter aluminum body coming soon and other upgrades as well as other designs coming soon.

Thanks for taking the time to dig into it and spread the word.

Bruce is correct, this is a very safe laser--the CDRH (a division of the FDA) has certified that Class 2 lasers have no known injuries to date. I think the most risk would come from dropping it on your toe, which has been resolved by the addition of a lanyard. Engraving is now available on quantities of 10 or more, and the case has been upgraded to include a stippled coating.

I Saw Bob Weir and Rat Dog last Saturday night at the Rock Yard in Indio, CA, and took my laser wand to see what kind of affect it would have on a concert crowd.

Bobby and crew played cohesively and the songs were tight, with the same light and energy that has carried the entire family for the last 40 something years... Fans were obviously very hungry, for before the second bar of Jam was played, there was dancing that didn't stop until after the show when the house lights came up for the last time after an excellent encore of Touch of Grey.

I whipped out my Laser Wand and added an additional dimension to the vibe by creating a psychedelically-charged dance area. I held it you would hold a pencil at shoulder height and swirled it around as if I was stirring a cup of coffee. As the energy in the room intensified, the crowd, music and lights began to interact in such a way that contained an almost eerie synergysm. Twirling dancers entered the veil of light to be bathed in dots and lines that swirled into random shapes and the infinity symbol. More folks gathered round to take part in the dancing and sparkles of joy began to flow among the circle while Bobby and the Band took us to new heights with The Wheel.

It was such a unique experience, and one that was completely unexpected, I had no less than 100 people come up to me saying "I have got to have one of those!".
