OhGizmo!: OhGizmo! » Archive » OhGizmo Review: Dragon Lasers 250mW Hulk

They are very bright indeed. I ordered a green laser online because the prices they (dragonlasers) charge are ridiculous! I got a 150mw for 110 bucks from dealextreme.com, and everytime I use yhe laser I'm again amazed about it's power. I tried in on my bare skin and within a couple of seconds I managed to get a nice and small blister... I haven't really tested how far it wil shine, but it WILL go for a couple of miles (!!!).
So my conclusion? It's a nice little (in the Netherlands illegal!) dangerous toy for geeks :)

With lasers (as with most things), you seem to get what you pay for... It's worth reading this: http://dragonlasers.com/shoddy. Also worth noting that as far as I can tell, price goes up exponentially with power.

And yes, powerful laser + bare skin = pain, but no serious damage (so far, anyway)

I wonder if you could get any effect on a marshmallow if you dyed it black... of course, I've never tried to dye a marshmallow.

That footage of electrical tape being cut is *scary.* And the night footage is impressive. Get a few of them, rig'em so the points converge at about a half-mile, and you've got your very own hand-held movie premiere "searchlight." Also, a way to bisect seagulls and get the FAA's attention.

Youri: the lasers they sell at dealextreme have no infrared filters in them, which is dangerous. Usually you when you buy a 150mw laser for cheaper than you should, you actually get something like a 20mw green laser with 130mw of dangerous IR radiation. You really do get what you pay for, and from what I've heard, dragonlasers is one of the best places to get high wattage lasers from.

I purchased a laser from Wicked Lasers. I've never seen anything so bright! Maybe you can do a review on them? Their laser look better in general and are more dependable. Excellent pictures by the way!

What do you do if a laser light shines on you and you get really freaked out?
