IT DOESN"T WORK ANYMORE...AND PINNACLE HASN"T GOT A FIX FOR THE PROBLEM SINCE CAME ABOUT WINDOWS VISTA's service pack 1....If you ever have to install the driver since updating to SP1 then you'll get the following error 'No space on hard drive'.

Basically, DO NOT buy this product because has known about this for 2 weeks and their forum is being swamped with angry users. It will only work with Windows Media Center for now until Pinnacle pulls their finger out and does something otherwise they will become a laughing stock and I am going to buy Hauppage USB HDTV device soon. Even when their program did work it still crashed at times if a channel with a weak signal came around and it could not over come it - Pinnacle is CRAP !

Bought one today....returning it tomorrow. Nothing but black screen with audio on the digital channels and really crappy analog reception. Software locked up my computer twice and that never happens on my system. Remote didn't work at all. Pinnacle's support forums are filled with similar complaints and no response from Pinnacle. Save your money and time.

You say: "since cable does not carry an ATSC signal" that is why the stick is not working with cable. My cable company uses ATSC signal that my ATSC/NTSC TV is able to receive but Pinnacle is not able to receive this. I suspect that the software classifies signal as "protected" even if it is not. Not good for the idea of time shift watching. And software setup and use is much more complicated than presented here.

1-vista sucks. advantages for end user? none.
2-pinnacle pctv hd pro stick can be finicky. I've several systems. 1 out 4, which was a gateway, the chipset was in conflict, it worked, but I got audio lag. The rest of the systems worked fine. Download the latest version of tvcenter pro....it helps.
    3-it was only $50
4-works perfect on my dual monitor setups...i can watch tv on the right side, while surfing the web and checking email on the left.

I evidentially live in a "fringe area" - i.e., New York City.

While the pinnacle PCTV HD Pro Stick might work OK with a cable box, when I
use the antenna it comes with I only see 1 to 4 channels, non of which are in New York.

How can I TVCenter Pro V4.98 that I want 13 and 21 to be defined so that I can move the antenna to get the best signal when I am actually watching?

(I guess when the switch to digital comes in 2009 February I'll want to be able to force the ATSC versions of
    what are now NTSC analog 2, 4,5,7, 9, 10,11, 13 and 21 be defined.)

(The TVCenter Pro V4.98 software uses a binary file for saved channels lists so I can't just use a file with only
channel analog 61 [which was all it found last time I tried] and edit it to have the channels I want. I never was able to
get MediaCenter, so I don't know if it would have let me force particular channels found.)

I like "- Occasional software bugs"...
I bought one of these stick and brought it back to the store the next day. On my 3.1 Ghz laptop with XP pro the software would hang EVERY TIME after a few minutes of watching analog tv on cable. Really, this is not serious. Did they test this thing before selling it?

Great review. One question. Do you know if this would be compatible with Beyond TV software? Are you familiar with it....basically PVR software. I especially like the smartskip commercial feature.
Also, what kind of audio signal will I get from this. 5.1?
    Thanks, David
