I think this isn't a difficult matter to understand.All or the majority of us(I hope;)we got this idea at the moment we click on any advertisement .We know exactly we're dialing with Publicity ,which means benefits of the Advertiser included int the package.
It's up to each of us limit or extend the credibility we accord to that Advertissement.
So,things were always clear.

Two thoughts: 1, a true conversation would involve readers (isn't that supposed to be number 3 in this "conversation" marketing BS?), and 2, as a reader, I really appreciate you calling me a moron, because essentially this intent to confuse readers is deliberate on the part of FM and Microsoft.

Is this yet another blog / website that puts advertisers above readers?

Jason, you are talking, right now, right here. I hear you're not happy, and that's fine. But to say that there was an intent to confuse readers is pushing it a little. Which part of the ads being on the right side of the site, in standard size, is confusing? Certainly you weren't fooled, nor were many people, because I don't believe there was any ill intent. But like I said in the article, there is always room for more clarity, and I believe FM is working on that

But there seems to be this idea that advertisers somehow are bad. That they're constantly trying to screw you, and push their subpar products. While that's true sometimes, it's not always the case. I noticed on your site that you went to Macworld. Is it a stretch to assume you're an Apple fan? Could this explain your attitude towards Microsoft? If you think about it for a minute, couldn't that be why you and countless other folks who've learned to dislike MS are suddenly gung-ho on these campaigns? Because you see, these have been running for quite some time, with other companies (like Cisco) and no one complained. It's only now, when MS gets in the picture, that all hell breaks loose. Funny how that works...

If you are too stupid to be able to tell if somebody is trying to sell you something, you deserve to be taken.

I read Ohgizmo because I like to look at cool stuff that I'll probably never have any intention of actually buying.

And if a commercial happens to slip in there... so what? I'm not a moron and I'm not gonna buy anything pricey unless I've checked it out from multiple sources.

This is truely a tempest in a teapot.

I've been reading OhGizmo now for about 18 months (maybe longer but I can't really remember, no matter). I'm just an ordinary bloke from Birmingham, England, who likes to see some nice funky-ass technological innovations (my mom bought me a Commodore Vic 20 way back in 1981 and technology has had me hooked ever since). In all the time I have been using OhGizmo I have never, not once, clicked on a single advert. In fact, I don't even look at them. I'm not interested. So why all the fuss about this? Why get your knickers in a twist? Sounds to me like it's more to do with the egotistical nature of the individuals who are ranting on about it all than anything else. Make yourselves a nice cup of tea and have a biscuit (I think you americans call them "cookies".......no, no, no, I'm not trying to gather anybodies information.............). Peace, love and unity.
