I first played Oregon Trail in 1978 when it was a game on the University [ of Minnesota where the game originated ] mainframe computers BBS. We dialed into it with our schools 300 baud phone mux'ed tele-terminal and had the option to copy the game 'code' to punch tape to play later. As you can guess the game back then was all text and basically challenged you to speed typing and managing rations over time. Not many games can claim the long lasting fame of Oregon Trail.

I just plated it and scored over 3000. Pretty good for first time. I got to put the proud name of Dick Nixon on the leader board.
